Eating at Manfreds
Manfreds is a small place with a tight seating. The intimate feeling is continued in the dishes that are served family style – to share at your table, and in the pace of the kitchen.
You may share and enjoy the food as you like. The dishes are not necessarily to be eaten in a certain order or tempo. So, if a new plate arrives before another is empty, this is not a hint that you’re being too slow!
The food at Manfreds is unpretentiously served and we prepare the plates in a no-frills style. Instead, time is spent in the kitchen, creating dishes with a playful yet respectful approach to the chosen seasonal ingredients that our collaborating farmers and producers deliver.
We love veggies. You can follow the seasonal supply from the Danish fields by eating at Manfreds, and the vegetables never leave our focus. The amount of meat on the plates always mirrors a close relation to the greens, and no matter if it’s meat, fish/shellfish or poultry, it never stands alone or takes the focus away from the vegetables – with the tartare being the odd one out.
Manfreds was the first winebar in Copenhagen to have a clear focus on uncompromising, natural wines. Our wines are made by farmers who spend maximum energy in the field with as little interference in the process after pressing the grapes as possible. This creates wines without dull additives, fermented only by naturally existing yeast. The wines are as different as any other and we suggest an orthodox approach when choosing your wine:
Forget all about grape, location, country and traditional attitudes. Instead, use your senses and your mood. How should it taste? Dry, fruity, perfumed, juicy, fresh, full bodied, acidic, mineral, crunchy …? Are you curious – or nerdy – please ask for the wine card (sneak peak here)
